Hubby loves it and he wants me to cook next time using squash, okra and more seafood, possibly with squid and clams. Of course, I will share it here. Thanks for stopping by. See you again.

Great for Banana Cue

One of my favorite snacks is the nutritious and delicious banana cue. It is a deep fried banana coated with caramelized brown sugar. A friend who lives in Louisiana sent me this banana. I told her that our Asian store here doesn't sell this type of banana so; she was so kind enough to send me this. When I crave for banana cue, I just use the plantain but, nothing can compare the right consistency of banana cue using the bananas in the Philippines. Plantain is soggy but, it can at least satisfy my craving.

As you can see, I have a bonus goodies too. She sent me a cracker. She is such a sweet and generous friend. Thank you so much Ging Chloe for these yummy great treats. I am so grateful for your generosity and kindness. God bless you always.

Yummy Peanut Kisses

I was browsing the pictures in my pc and I found this yummy photo of peanut kisses. I just miss it. If I can only find a substitute for this kind of cookie, I will not be craving for this anymore. Peanut Kisses is a product originated from Bohol Philippines. "Calamay" is another delicacy that I long for to eat on my lazy snacking moment.

Filipino Store in Cocoa

Here in Florida, we have mangoes coming from Mexico and from other countries in the South. Some mangoes are sweet and some are not. So, the best way to eat sweet produce are mangoes coming from the Philippines via online purchase but, it's a bit expensive. We are now moving in the new house in Cocoa. I was wondering if I can find a Filipino store nearby. Boy, I was so glad! I found a store, a restaurant and an ice-cream parlor all in one managed by a Filipino family. No mangoes but, its alright. We ordered the food first because we were famished. Hubby ordered a shrimp sinigang while I choose the Pork Lechon. I am real happy to see the food. I was so full that night!

If you live in Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, and Port St. John, check out this store:

Garden Cafe' and Great Outdoor a Freestyle Dining at Norwegian Sky Cruise Line

Looks like a Filipino food right? Well, I have no doubt that the cook in the Garden Cafe' and Great Outdoor restaurant is a Filipino. NCL company has 13 cruise ships and I happen to experienced cruising the Norwegian Sky. There are 80% of the Norwegian Sky crews came from the Philippines. I heard positive feedback about them in terms of workmanship.Anyway, our room attendant was an Indian and she was polite and courteous.A bar tender in the Great Outdoor gave me a terrible service. When he saw me approaching for my drinks refill, he made me wait. I thought he had important things to finish on his cash register. A man sat beside me and the bar tender started to entertain him and pretend not to see me. My husband observed that incident. Anyway, after the man left I asked the bar tender to refill my mug and he was sarcastic when he told me to open the lid of my mug. I was not satisfied with his service and he saw me holding my $5 and put it back in my wallet. The next day, he was so good to me and asked me where I came from. He was a Filipino, too bad huh? This restaurant is a buffet dining and the guests can occupy any seats they want and anywhere they like. Unlike the other cruise line, guests have a sitting arrangement all throughout the cruise duration. Not in a Free style cruising! Guests here can eat any time they want and they can order a room service for FREE of charge. The ship is huge, clean and most of the crews gave an excellent service to us. I would definitely recommend the Norwegian Sky. If you are planning to cruise to Bahamas, check out the Norwegian Cruise Line. I would love to do cruising again. I am thinking on husband's birthday perhaps? Now, I'm thinking...

Datu Puti: Pinoy Kurat

I went to a Filipino Store and found this, Datu Puti: Pinoy Kurat. I heard from other Pinoy here that this vinegar is really good and sure enough, Pinoy Kurat is now my favorite. I used this vinegar as a dip for adobo, magga'ng hilaw and more. Another Filipino product, from Julie's: Love Letters coconut flavoured egg rolls. This is good for snacking. Kids will surely like it.Of course, my all time favorite cracker nuts. My first Nagaraya in four years. There are cracker nuts here but, not as tasty and delicious as Nagaraya brand. Now, the only cravings that's hard to find is the LECHON. How I wish I can find it here in Orlando.

Oh I can't resist good tasty food! Let's chow everyone!

Delicious Filipino Desserts

This is "malagkit", one of my favorite snacks back home. It is made from glutinous rice garnished with "latik" or coconut milk residue topped with bits of peanuts and cheese.I am not sure what to call this. It is made of pearl, young coconut, milk, and mango. These are "fresh lumpia" or spring roll with vegies inside, "puto"or rice cake with cheese, and "maja blanca" or coconut pudding.Fried spring roll with gravy. I can't remember the taste now LOL. It must be deliciousThis is a cassava cake made from manioc and in our grocery stores it is called yuca. The Puerto Ricans and Mexicans love to make this too.
When I visited the Philippines last year, I bought these desserts all the time. I would trade the cake and ice cream for these foods, oh yeah. This is "siopao", a steamed Hot Bun, it is actually a dumpling with sweet mongo filling. Some Chinese restaurant here in the US have this "nilusak na saging" which is made from banana with shred of coconut .This is my entry for Yummy Sunday. Thanks for the visit everyone and for stopping by last week. I will see you in your blogs.

Green Mango with Spicy Shrimp Fry

Here I am again craving for something out of the ordinary. Chocolates, pastries, ice creams and cakes are the ordinary food that you can just grab in the grocery here. But, I am not a big fan of these "sweet tooth" faves even though these "yummylicious foodies" are very affordable here. It's just like buying a "bananacue" in the "sari-sari" stores. But, since I am not in PI, craving for "Pinoy" foodie like the green mango is hard to find and I can only buy "uyap" in the Asian store. Of course it's different if you live in California where you can buy everything your tastebuds desire. Anyway, I was able to buy the green mango at PUBLIX but, it's a product from Mexico.I really thought that it's sour but, after dipping a big slice of green mango to a spicy "uyap" (drooling), OhEmGeeee...so yummy, LOL!
Now, I still crave for more! I hope this variety of mango is still there tomorrow.

Filipino Desserts

While in the Philippines, I had the freedom to enjoy the food that I missed so much. I took the time to meet few of my friends and dine in at Lighthouse Restaurant at Gaisano City. We arrived after lunch so, we have a buffet of desserts or snacks. I have here rice cake which we call "puto", suman which is made of glutinous rice or sticky rice, maja blanca with coconut milk and corn starch are main ingredients, and the fresh "lumpia".The taste this time was okay, maybe because these foods were products by consignees? I don't know! This place was my favorite "tambayan" before I left for the US. I was a bit disappointed with the food but, in general it was all good. The next day, I gave my neighbor a thousand pesos to make the same desserts. That I call Excellent!

Yummy Malagkit

I was inspired to make "malagkit" or "biko" today because I was drooling to eat a "torta" which was posted in one of my favorite FB group "Kagay-an Kaniadto". As I was thinking about that native food, I checked my pantry and saw my "malagkit" sticky rice. So, here it is!
This is my first attempt to make a "Biko" or "Malagkit" therefore, I refer my measurement and ingredients thru Panlasang Pinoy which is one of my favorite food website. It is so easy to make especially now, that I know where to find native ingredients. I usually go to a Puerto Rican or Mexican store. This is my entry for Yummy Sunday. Please drop by to see more yummy foodie entries this week.
