Breakfast is Served

We have so many things to accomplish today so; I prepared a big breakfast. I love white rice and I basically eat rice 3x a day. Well, my husband finds that weird but, most Filipinos do eat rice on a daily basis. Some  are on a diet so; they eat red rice.

That's sautéed string beans with tomato and onion, scrambled eggs for me and sunny side up for hubby. The vegies are really good. What's yours?

Tikoy

This is Tikoy, made from glutinous rice. Tikoy can be eaten all year round but, traditionally it is popular during Chinese New Year. Tikoy is Nian gao in Chinese which means sticky for "nián" and "gāo" would mean cake. Eating nian gao symbolizes raising oneself higher in each coming year therefore, Tikoy food is for goodluck. This is one of my favorite Filipino-Chinese snacks. It tastes sweet and sticky.

Delicious Food

I love Tony Roma's Restaurant at South Semoran Blvd which is nearby the airport. The ambiance in this location is great plus the servers are knowledgeable of the menus. We tried asking them about their signature steaks and they explain it very well. We always have a beautiful dining experience at Tony Roma's. Oh, try their Baked Potato Soup which is topped with grated cheddar cheese, bacon and chives. It is very delicious. This menu is from Columbia Restaurant in Saint Petersburg, Florida. This is Chicken and Yellow Rice, one quarter of chicken baked with yellow rice, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, spices and virgin olive oil. It taste good but, the portion they served was really HUGE! If the guest is famish, this is the good menu to order, LOL. I also ordered the croquetas de pollo which is good but, I love the croquetas of my granny though. This is my first visit and I enjoyed the meal. I will definitely dine in the Columbia Restaurant and I might pay a visit in the Celebration area.This plate is from IKEA Restaurant and served for breakfast. In less than $3, you can shop the IKEA store and never gets hungry for more.This is Eggplant Riojana from Columbia Restaurant which is my hubby's favorite food. It is a sliced eggplant breaded with ground plantain crumbs with rich Rioja sauce of tomatoes, garlic, capers, olives and red wine topped with melted Galician Tetilla cheese.
It is always nice to eat at home and prepare a homemade recipe. My husband loves to cook in fact; he was a cook when he was working in the Army. This is one of my favorite meals: a baked a garlic porkchop and creamy pasta with mushrooms.

Jasmine Rice

Back in PI, Jasmine Rice is not the tastiest rice that I love. There are other variety which taste better and the more expensive it is, the more tastier it would be (supposedly). Anyway, here in the US, Jasmine Rice is really the best rice so far. The price is a little bit higher but, it is the best rice so far :-), just trying to convince you hehehe.Everyday, I cook rice because without it makes me weak (charing...) LOL! Asian can't live a day without rice during mealtime, unless if you are already influenced by the culture you have now. If I am lazy to cook, we go out to a Chinese resto and order for take out or dine in for a buffet. Lunch will cost for $6.99 and Dinner is $9.99, without the tax, tip and drinks.
