Baking a #MardiGras King Cake

Yayy! I was able to bake King Cake successfully using the recipe of the video below. I was looking at so many recipes but, I decided to use PartyTimeBatonRouge's recipe because from the name itself, she is from Louisiana (assuming hehehe) . Who could go wrong when it comes to taste and cooking prowess from the people in this place eh? Check the video to know the ingredients and even if you are not a pro baker, you can follow her instructions easy.
I was really excited while baking this King Cake. I was in the mood for Mardi Gras hehehe. The dough tastes good. The King Cake is supposed to be festive and sweet so; since I have "tons" of beads, I decorated my KIng Cake with beads around it. Sweet? Not too sweet for me because I lessen the sugar.
The king cakes below are just throw back pics which I found in one of my folders. We bought the cake from Rouse's, a grocery store which is popular in Mississippi. As you can see, there's a plastic baby at the middle and of course, the beads on the side to reflect Mardi Gras.
On my next King Cake, I want to use chunks of cheese as filling, making it a cheese bread. I will try to braid it too and add yellow and lavender colors. Anyway, I hope your Fat Tuesday celebration turns out fun with family and friends. It's Ash Wednesday today so; if you are a Catholic, visit the church and let us do our obligation today. Are you ready for Lent Season? I am.
For main ingredients : flour, eggs, yeast, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and butter. For the measurements and procedure, refer to the video.

That's all for now friends and thank you for visiting my blog always. Have a great day today.

Mc Cafe Hot Chocolate at Mc Donalds

How was your night everyone? Did you have a good sleep after watching the NBA All Star Game or the Oscars? I did not bother to go downtown and watch the NBA stars because I know for sure that crowd will be nasty later on. There was indeed a fight after the game. Anyway, I had a wonderful time watching the OSCARS on TV. I bet you did too. Let's talk about food and drinks now. While we were in Mississippi, hubby and I have our favorite McDonalds location, it's in 1323 Bienville Blvd Ocean Springs, MS 39564. It was a chilly morning so I ordered the Mc cafe Hot Chocolate. I love the creaminess and the aroma of the cocoa, just makes me relax. Here's hubby buying his Mc Cafe coffee. The lady at the counter is a Filipino, I think :-) Thanks for stopping by y'all!

King Cakes at Rouses

This is a Louisiana-style King Cake with lemon and cream cheese filling topped with colorful sugary icing. King cakes are part of the tradition for Mardi Gras celebration. We bought this particular king cake at Rouses, our favorite supermarket in Ocean Springs Mississippi. We went to Mississippi last week for Mardi Gras. Did you know that ISLE Hotel and Casino sponsored our stay for three nights and all FREE? Oh, Hubby and I had a wonderful time in the cozy hotel. We saw our family and friends out there and we really enjoyed watching the parade, caught some beads too.Oh, see the little baby at the middle of the cake? It's a trinket which represents Baby Jesus. Actually, King Cake takes its name from the Three Kings. Here's one picture that I took during the D'Iberville Mardi Gras parade. If you want to see more pictures of Mardi Gras Parade, check my other blogs. Thanks for stopping by.

Ocean Springs Mardi Gras Parade

This year, hubby and I will be going to Mississippi for the Mardi Gras. It will be scheduled on the third week of February. We love watching the Mardi Gras parade and we enjoyed catching the beads. I have collected a few nice one but, most beads that I got were all sent to my friends in the Philippines. These pictures were taken in 2010 because last year I was in the Philippines having a vacation so, we missed this event. We usually see all the parades in Ocean Springs, Biloxi and Diberville but, the latter is what I enjoyed the most. They have so many beautiful floats and of course, thousands of beads to throw to the crowd. These photos were taken from the Mardi Gras parade in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Here's showing you the relatives and friends of Hubby caught in the act of catching some beads. Mardi Gras parade is a memorable and interesting event because of three F's: Fun, Food and Family. Now, I miss the buffet in Hard Rock, Isle and Beau. Oh, you should visit the South and watch any Mardi Gras parades and I am sure you will enjoy it. If you love the crowd and party, go to New Orleans and watch the Mardi Gras at the French Quarter.
