Commonly Misused Words

We are not perfect therefore; it is not unusual that we misused some words at certain times. I have a friend who cannot forget someone who uses the word "prepare" instead of "prefer". It was an awkward moment and that person became the target for mockery without his knowledge. It is really hard to stop my friend for doing such thing because he thought it is too funny. I feel bad about it. How would you stop him if he is your friend?
