Look what I got yesterday, half a dozen of wines and all these are FREE. About 3 weeks ago, I received a box from a company. Inside the box are goodies and it also contain a wine Gift Card worth $50. At first, I was hesitant because I have to pay the shipping fee but, I ordered anyway. The shipping fee was $11 and honestly, it's worth it. This is way better that free tasting right?

We went to BJ's the other day and saw a fresh Salmon fillet about $13. I was thinking to make a Grilled Salmon and make a Bok Choy (Pechay) soup as well. Though it was a scorcher yesterday, we had a wonderful lunch at the gazebo. Here's what we have on the table: Sweet Mango for dessert; Grilled Salmon; Salmon and Bok Choy Soup, Filipino Chorizo; and Sautéed Asparagus.

Sautéed Asparagus
Ingredients:

Asparagus
Vegetable oil
Salt and Pepper

Directions:
Rinse the asparagus; peel the stalks; and remove the tough white ends. Just sauté’ the asparagus in oil until tender and seasoned with salt and pepper.

Bok Choy and Salmon Soup

Ingredients:

Bok Choy
Salmon
tomato
onion
Maggi Cube
salt to taste
pepper

Directions:

Sauté garlic and onion until it softens. Add water, Salmon and Bok Choy, bring to a boil. Reduce heat; add pepper, maggi cube and tomato. Simmer it until Salmon is cooked and Bok Choy is tender. You can add salt to taste.

Grilled Salmon

Ingredients:

salmon
olive oil
soy sauce
minced garlic
pepper

Directions:
Step 1: Marinate the salmon with oil, soy sauce, garlic, pepper

Step 2: Place the salmon on the grill with skin side down. Grill for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness of the fish. Turn it carefully. Serve it hot with tartar sauce.

College Life: Student, Working Scholar and Glee Club

College is the most exciting and interesting years of my life. I was working in the main library in the University and attending classes in between. At 7 PM, library is closed but; I am not ready to go home yet. My extra-curricular activity will start at 8 PM so; I have the time to have dinner before my Glee Club practice begins.

Music brings peace amidst my hectic schedules as a student and my role as a working scholar in the library. I was never tired. At the most, we have two hours practice at the Little Theater. I missed those days. When we were early and waiting for our most beloved conductor, we will just randomly pick a song and sings Acapella. When someone started to hum a song, others would make their own voices creating one beautiful harmony of music. We have microphones just like the mxl 991 at musician's friend and only the soloist will use them. Our voices are loud enough for the entire theater. I always cherish the years while I was in college. The Glee Club serves as the balance between my work and student life.

Camote Cue and Banana Smoothie for Snacks

I usually deep fry the sweet potato first and put them on hot skillet, no oil and sprinkle the light brown sugar. It will eventually caramelized. When I order pizza online, I always check out the DEALS tab. We tried their Pan Pizza with 5 toppings and it was only $10. It was good and huge too. Yesterday, we decided to try their $10  DINNER BOX for a change. This box has medium rectangular 1-topping pizza, 5 bread sticks with marinara dipping sauce, and 10 cinnamon sticks with icing which I super like. This box is good for 6 but, since we are only two, we got so much left for midnight snacks. Try it! It tastes good and the cinnamon sticks is my favorite in this box.

Hotels in Rome Near a Train Station

One of the places that occupied the top of my bucket list is Rome, The Eternal City and is the largest city in Italy. I am so fascinated of Rome because of the history attached to it. Since childhood, I have been dreaming to visit this place one day. We almost made it last year but at the last minute, we postponed our Europe Travel. Hopefully in the next 12 months, we will be able to have our trip to Europe and Rome is one of them. Finding a reasonable price for a hotel accommodation located in the heart of the city is tough. Chinese Buffet in Titusville

From time to time, I crave for a Chinese food so; hubby and I had our lunch at Buffet Village in Titusville today. I always have sushi on my first plate. I just love it.

It seems that I have a routine every time that I go to a buffet, my second plate was a soup and clams. Did you know that it is cheaper to dine in a buffet and have the clams than buy it raw and cook it? It's about .50 cents/each in Publix. For a dozen, that's about $6 but, it's unlimited in a Chinese Buffet.

I like this place because it is clean and new. It is located near Target so; after shopping, it is very convenient to just go there.

This is not my dessert plate but, hubby's. I seldom eat dessert. No space for it I guess (wink).

Well, I guess I can't say no for a good banana and apple pie.

Margherita Flatbread at Chili's

Today, we had lunch at Chili's along South Semoran Blvd in Orlando, FL. For appetizer, we tried their Margherita Flatbread with Monterey Jack, mozzarella and fresh tomatoes with cilantro-ranch pesto on top. My husband enjoyed it the most because the thin crust is so crunchy. It is delicious but, I am not a fan of thin crust. I enjoyed my baby-backed ribs and mango iced tea.

Fruits and Veggie for my Table

Summer time here in Florida is hot and humid. Gardening is not fun at all and I admit, some of my flowering plants withered, sad but that is beyond my control. Glad to note that some of my plants endured the scorching heat. These are the fruits and veggie for my table. My Kumquats are doing well with few remaining ripe fruits and new greens showed up.

The vines of my grapes are thriving so; hubby and I did a DIY project. It is not done but, we are getting there. The grapes are getting bigger each day and I am excited.

This will be my last batch of Okra and I am saving some seeds to make another set of new ones. Okra is so easy to grow and does not need bigger space. You should have one and it grows well in pots too.

Here is my precious Calamondin which is known as Calamansi back home. For my consumption, I never run out of fruits and I am so happy I found this plant at Wal-Mart about a year ago for only $9. It is now 5ft tall.

Next time, I am sure I will be making a calamondin jelly and of course, calamondin juice. Now, all of a sudden I want a calamondin juice. What have you got in your garden? I would love to hear about it.
