Mango for Snacking

Okay, we went to #Aldie today and I was so glad that the mango is only $1.19, way better than $1.99 price right? I bought 3 and I can't contain myself from eating one when we arrived home. I also bought plantain for snacks later. It's been a long time that I bake a cake. I am not too fond of sweets and that probably hinders my enthusiasm to bake a cake.

Anyway, for now I am savouring the taste of this semi-ripe mango. Oh so good ... really! The taste is sweet and there's a bit of crunch to it in every bite. You will get this texture if you pick a semi-ripe mango. The green and un-ripe is not sweet at all and all you will get is the sour taste. This is good because the combination is perfect and it will just explode in your mouth hahaha sweet and sour combo. You will know what I mean if you are drooling right now and craving for mangoes LOL. Anyway, thanks for stopping by in my blog. Enjoy your day.

Fresh Fruit Smoothies Using Magic Bullet

Happy Chinese New Year! I know it's a bit late but, it doesn't matter. Everyday is a new day right? Did you celebrate Chinese New Year? What did you do to attract the good luck? We don't celebrate it but, it's always good to have lots of fruits on the table and some sticky foods for that day. I am feeling the Chinese celebration already. I got fruits so; what did I do with these?
Using my precious Magic Bullet, I can make fresh juices out of these. No mess, easy to use and healthy drinks in a minute. Really! This is not a sponsored post by the way. I bought this gadget for $49 on sale and I think I bought it in either #Kohls or #Belk. I am not sure. I got this for almost three years now and have been using it almost everyday.

I recommend that you should have this in your kitchen. It saves the effort, the time and if you hate the mess, magic bullet will do the trick.

Right now, I am having a pineapple and banana smoothie. Yum!

Let's Make Grilled Plums and Berries for Dessert

I was looking for a tasty dessert recipe a while ago and found this easy to prepare Hot Plums and Berries from Food Network site. I am a fan of Food Network Channel for quiet some time now. On my lazy weekend when I was in PI, I watch the show most of the time. I don't cook and I don't bake but, I love to eat any food that is delightful. Well, not the "balut" though, can't dare that. Anyway, here is the yummy dessert that I am talking about. The Preparation is 10 minutes and Cook Time is 20 minutes, not bad at all.

Directions:

Mix 4 tablespoons melted butter, 2 tablespoons sliced crystallized ginger and 3 tablespoons sugar in a large bowl; toss with 3 or 4 halved and pitted plums. Place the fruit, cut-side up, on a sheet of foil; scatter 1 cup raspberries and/or blackberries on top. Fold up the packet and grill over medium-high heat until the plums are tender and the berries are juicy, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with ice cream or yogurt.

Raspberries are rich in vitamin C, manganese, dietary fiber, Vitamin B, folic acid, magnesium as well as iron.

While Blueberries contain anthocyanins, other pigments and various phytochemicals, there is evidence that this fruit improves memory. There is also under preliminary research for their potential role in reducing risks of diseases such as inflammation and cancer. It is one of the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants are essential to optimizing health by helping to combat the free radicals and blueberries provide the greatest nutritional benefits.

The edible fruit below is blackberry. Blackberries are healthy antioxidants and rich in nutrients. It is known to contain a compound called salicylic acid which has been proven to numb bodily pains and treat unusually high body temperature or fevers. Fiber is important in maintaining a healthy digestive system because it pushes toxins and other excess waste through the intestines and supports healthy and bowel movements. One of the soluble fibres found within blackberries is pectin which helps lower harmful cholesterol levels which lowers ones’ chances of heart disease.

You can eat them raw or add it in your cereal. Whichever way you feel, fruits are nutritious food to include in your daily diet. Stay healthy everyone and thanks for stopping by.

Summer Fresh Produce

I like short road trips and when it is summer here in Florida, fresh produce like the picture below is sold along the side of the road. The prices ranges from $1 to $7 so; it's really a good deal. The bag of orange is 3 for $10.The sweet watermelon is $2 each, peaches and tomatoes are $3. The prices differ especially when there are competitions displaying in the area and it's more cheaper. How about in your place? Do you have farmers in your neighborhood selling their fresh produce on the roadside too?

Olive Garden Near Florida Mall

Hungry? Do you crave for an Italian food? Olive Garden is the best place to visit and you will definitely satisfy your taste buds craze for soups, salads and breadsticks. They make their own salad dressings and that's why their salad tastes better. This is my favorite refreshing fruit drink, the Berry Acqua Fresca with strawberry, blackberry and raspberry purée and mixed with acai berry and sparkling water, topped with fresh berries. They have variety of soups, salads and breadsticks which you can try as much as you want (unlimited) for $6.95. Honestly, I can only have two bowls max and my favorite is Chicken & Gnocchi which is a creamy soup made with roasted chicken, traditional Italian dumplings and spinach. The picture below is Zuppa Toscana which is a spicy sausage (yummy), russet potatoes and cavolo greens in a creamy broth. If it's creamy, I love it. Why settle for a soda when you can have a healthy beverage such as Strawberry-Mango Limonata or bella lemonata? This is Chicken Parmigiana with parmesan-breaded chicken breast, fried and topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese and it is served with spaghetti. If it is dinner time, the portion is even bigger and if you are famish, go ahead and order. If you want to bring home an Olive Garden salad at home, buy the dressing instead. It's less than $6 a bottle. The Olive Garden in Florida Mall is my favorite location because the servers are more friendly and polite. If you happen to visit Orlando and shop at Florida Mall, check out this address:

Pomegranate as Antioxidant

What's up you healthy people? I have been off lately because hubby and I travelled a lot and we have three guests at home so; we miss blogging! I have so much to share and I hope I am back for good this time. Okay! Today, hubby and I had a little road trip down South of Florida. I have been wanting to eat fruits because I was hungry while we were having the road trip. We stopped by at Wal-Mart and bought this fruit! This is Pomegranate and a bit expensive because it's $2.28/lb. I love it. Do you know how to open a pomegranate? Here's how: Cut off the top just below the crown maybe half inch then, score the skin at each section. Separate each score then, loosen the flesh covered seeds called "arils". You need a bowl of course and you only need the arils so; do not include the white membrane. That's eat! That's how I ate it. It is juicy, yummy and full of health benefits! Pomegranates have polyphenols, a powerful and effective antioxidants. It helps protect the body against free radicals and other major factors in aging. This fruit is also a good source of Vitamin C. If you have colds, eat the pomegranate (",). Pomegranate is a good source for Vitamin K, a substance required for healthy blood coagulation. Moreover, pomegranates are good for the body especially when a person suffered a chronic conditions like heart disease and cancer. Come on, let us chow! Make this fruit your snacks!

These drinks are thirst-quenchers which are good on a hot summer days! First, this is a mudslide cocktail from Red Lobster. So creamy but, it contains a vodka nevertheless, it is really good. It taste so good! If you have so many strawberries, make a Strawberry Smoothie. With strawberries, blend it with milk, yogurt, sugar, vanilla and ice. That is so yummy. This is tropical Orange Freeze at Red Lobster. It's not really my favorite because I can taste the coconut than the orange, LOL!Here's an Orange Smoothie blended with milk, yogurt, sugar, vanilla and ice. Try any fruits you have at home and make a smoothie.
A simple glass of ice tea can be thirst quenching too. You really don't need to dine out to drink a good chillers. Make your own chiller.

Raspberry

Summer means fun, beach, rejuvenate, family bonding and relaxation! But, it also means heat, thirst, sweat, dehydration, hay fever, allergy and the best way to counter all that is to take more fluid and freshen up! Fruits such as watermelon, mangoes, papaya, blueberry and raspberries are thirst quenching fruits that I crave in summertime.Raspberry contains significant amount of antioxidant that gives protection against several human diseases. It is rich in vitamin C and rank near the top of all fruits for antioxidant strength. It taste a little bit sour that is why I top it with Hershey's Ice Cream and I took an easy chair relaxation...yum!
