Oh So Good #LecheFlan

What are you doing this weekend? Me, I just stayed home for I have a stomach bug. I did not go to attend the mass either. My craving today led me to make a caramel custard or crème caramel. Back home, we call this custard dessert as Leche Flan simply because it is made of condensed milk (leche) , egg yolks and sugar.
A close up shot to show the creaminess of this leche flan.

Ingredients:
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 1 cup fresh milk
- 1 cup sugar
-1 tsp vanilla extract
- 10 egg yolks

Instructions:
1. Put the egg yolks in a bowl, beat them
2. Add the condensed milk and mix well
4. Add the fresh milk and mix well
5. Add the vanilla extract then, set aside this milk and egg yolk mixture.
6. In a heated pan, add the granulated sugar and mix until the sugar is caramelized.
7. Spread the caramelized sugar on your leche flan mold evenly.
8. When it is cool enough, add the egg yolk and milk mixture on the mold.
9. Cover the mold with an aluminum foil.
10. Steam the mold for 35 minutes.
11. When it is done, let it cool down. You may refrigerate it for an hour.

As for me, I cannot wait for another hour. I usually eat it right after it cools down. Oh, this is so yummy! You should try it.

By the way, I bought this steamer few years back and this is where I steam my leche flan. If you have a rice cooker, usually it comes with a steamer pan in it, you can also use it. It works perfect!

Try it and let me know how was it.

#BakeitFun With My New #BakingMat

I received the Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mat about two weeks ago and on the first day, I tried baking on it with Garlic, Herb and Cheese Knots and guess what, I was totally impressed. This is my first time to use a silicone baking mat and I have to re-read the product description for safety reasons.
Baking Garlic, Herb and Cheese Knots Using the #BakingMat .
And ... Wow! It does survive the heat in the oven. In fact; aside from the oven, it can be use in the microwave or freezer. It is indeed a high temperature resistant. I was actually worried at first if I was preparing it correctly and also if the baking mat affects the flavor of my garlic knots but, it doesn’t. I tried to bake using two baking pans; one has a silicone baking mat and the other pan has a foil. Both came out perfect.

Considering that I have to bake a food on it, I made sure that the product is Nontoxic. There are compounds out there that are harmful and can cause cancer and since this baking mat is BPA free, it’s all I need to know. It is safe to use because it is certified and FDA approved. Would I recommend this product? Yes, I do! By the way, the shipping and handling was fast and I got this product in good condition.

What I love about the experience of using the #BakeitFun #BakingMat is the fact that I don’t have to use any type of grease after the first use. It is definitely non-stick so; it is convenient to use. I don’t have to struggle in cleaning it up.

It is super easy to clean and it also keeps my baking sheets messy-free. I tried to rinse the baking mat with just warm water and air dries it, boom ... done and no sweat! This product is dishwasher safe too. I'd like to note also that the design is gorgeous. I love the white and blue color combination. I am so happy to have this product. When I am baking, I use this baking mat a lot.

#Pringles Cheddar Cheese

Anything with cheese and lots of cheese, I love it! I know there's a lot of cheese varieties out there and cheddar is one of the most favorite and chosen by ordinary folks out there, that includes me. I love cheddar cheese in my grilled sandwich in fact, I like it better without the burger in it. Yummy, especially the melted ones. With Pringles, the cheddar cheese flavor is one of my favorites to snack on. I prefer salty snacks than the sweets. I like Pringles with onion dip ... such a heavenly taste to munch, agree?
By the poolside, taking a "me time" and enjoying my Pringles.

Incorporate Leftovers to a New Meal

Do you have leftovers? Do you keep them in the fridge or incorporate them into a new meal? I love to cook for myself and for my husband so; yesterday I decided to make green beans stir fry. Last Sunday, we have a Labor Day family pool party and we have grilled meat leftovers. I need to do something or else, the meat will be hard in few hours. This is what I did. I just stir fry the green beans and put the chicken wings and hotdogs in it. It was so flavorful and of course, my husband eat it at his hearts content. This is not a typical American food but, my husband just loves it. Now, I am heading to the kitchen for brunch and I will be eating this with a steamed rice, want some #Pinoyfood ?
